Hi All: What kind of "tools" do I need to lube my Morgan? Can I buy a grease gun from the local AutoZone or do I need to special order something? And how do I get the oil into all these little places

A standard grease gun will do. The grease points that I can remember from off the top of my head are as follows; 1. Sliding pillars (one on each side) 2. Tie rod ends (one each side) 3. Clutch and b

There has already been an excellent reply to your basic question, but I thought I'd add some more details. There is a pretty good manual, although it does gloss over some of the more idiosyncratic de

I was surprised to see your recommendation of 90wt in the moss box. Synthetic must behave very differently because when I tried 90 years ago it simply privented the synchros for doing their job. My b

You are correct in your assumption. I have found that Mobil 1 90W does behave like a lower viscosity regular oil. It's viscosity also does not appear to vary as much as the regular oils with tempera

I have used 90 wt gear oil in a variety of transmissions over the years, ranging from Getrag and ZF to Moss to the excellent Volvo four speed. Haven't had any problems lube related, but must learn to

Perhaps my memory is failing but it sure seems to me that 30wt oil was the factory recommendation for the Moss box in the early 60`s. 90wt definitely defeats the synchros which are, after all, little

Keep in mind that gear oil is rated differently than motor oil. As far as viscosity I recall 30W motor oil of about the same viscosity as 75W gear oil. I'm quite happy with Redline MTL for the Moss b

It is true that 30 SAE motor oil was the original recommendation for use in the Moss gearbox. I was told that using 90 EP would damage the needle roller bearings in the box because they would not get
