- I was in a machineshop today that does lots of V-8s, and he pointed out to me that he doesn't use any exhaust manifold gasket at all. He mills the exhaust manifold and head faces flat and bolts them

- Or not. If the situation is such that losing the $2 gasket costs you the Daytona 500, the machining might be the more cost-effective approach. Maybe.

- Your turbo manifold will not stay flat no matter how flat you get it to start. Do a youtube search for turbo Miata and see the one that gets cherry red on the dyno. Heat, cool, heat, cool, etc will
