The car is definately a 1600 going by the body number - and probably is in the following chassis number range 78445 - 79324 - I have no idea what the engine is although I did find another car on Koe

If you are fitting an MGA camshaft anyway, it will have the tach drive gear on the back. The unmachined flat is already on the Nash engine, and you can easily drill 3 holes and tap 2 to fit the tach
