- Well, Richard, The first number you quote is the actual chassis number. G=M.G. Cars Company HN5 = (more or less the third version, HN3 is an early MGB) N= roadster, as opposed to GHD5 = MGB GT U = U

- Richard, I was recently reading about commision numbers and so forth and I thought I might try to help. The number riveted to the dash is the serial number of the car, in this case being "G-HN5-UJ 4

- Hi folks, Chassis numbers for all MG's are supposed to start at 251 for production cars. Pre-production models are numbered from 101, going up for RHD and down for LHD. The above is the pattern for V

- Richard, DON'T DO IT!!!!! US SPEC mgbs are a heap of rubbish when compared with UK SPEC. The engines are underpowered dogs, the interior trim is poor and they usually do not have overdrive. Email me
