I have found that an accumulation of dust combined with moisture will lead to arcing. On occasion, I have removed the distributer with leads and the rotor and washed them with detergent in the sink.

Is it happening on cylinders from both carbs or just one? (limited to cylinders 1,2 or 3,4?) If so look at the carbs also. I had a partial fuel block in the line from the float to the jet. It caused

Check under the distributor cap. I had the same problem a month ago, there was carbon tracking on the cap and rotor, and the condenser must have failed because the points were in the worst condition
