AFAIK it has nothing to do with mixture, just timing. It's not like the total energy contained in premium fuel is greater, it just has better anti-knock qualities (which I think has to do with flame

Ok, so then, within reason, can we say that knock is not related to mixture just to timing? Obviously all bets are off if things are wacked out but, referring back to our given car will the car knock

AFAIK a lean mixture will also contribute to knock, but this is not to say you can over richen the mixture to solve knock - because you'll just foul the plugs. Let's not forget spark plugs, either. A
