Reid, your problem is in the clutch/flywheel assy. It sounds like the surface of the flywheel is not flat, and probably needs to be resurfaced. As you drive the car, the clutch/flywheel gets very hot

I used a 5/16" bolt for the duration of the time I had my Herald, about ten years without any problem though the crinkle washer was still in place. I see no reason not to use a 5/16" bolt as the pin
