My MGB has a metal rod with a white nob sticking out from the dash right above my right leg. I can't get it to turn, push-in or -out, pivot or move in anyway. It's not the trip odo reset. What is it?

That is the knob for opening the vent. It pulls forward and back towards the firewall. The vent itself is right behind the radio console. You might check to see if anything is blocking it. -Greg '74
