One sure fire way was to pack the oil pump with vaseoline before you put the oil pan on. I hope you hear of another way post pan installation. Ken Freese 65 BJ8 -

You should have filled the oil pump with grease , but if you add the oil to your engine now the oil will slowly find its way into the gears of the pump in a few days crank it to see if the oil comes
