- Hi David There should be a fibre or rubber washer in the very top of the cap for use on our cars, this makes a seal to atmosphere so that the vacuum caused by the contraction of the water as it cools

- Use the tinsnips and the hacksaw to shorten down the lugs (on the cap) that hold the cap to the rad the 13lb cap has longer lugs to prevent confusion/crossing with the 7lb cap, the extra 6lb raise t

- Hi Geo Yes it would put additional strain on the rad but looking at a Herald 7lb rad and a Herald 13lb rad side by side the tubes are visually identical so I figured that it would probably be alright
