As far as my overheating problems go, I've been looking as best I can with no luck. Here are the checks I have made so far. New temp gauge & sending unit 110# compression on all four cylinders timing

Try removing the thermostat completely. The engine will be slow to warm up, but will show you if there isa problem with the thermostat or not. Take a look at the lower radiator hose, it may be colaps

A few things I forgot to mention. It has new hoses, the shroud is in place, and a mechanical fan (no clutch). It may have had the fog horn symptom though. I'll have to check that. Running without the

You said the engine overheats very quickly. How quickly? Like a minute? If so, this is more than just water overheating, as it shouldn't come up to tempurature under load for at least a few minutes.

My 2K was acting exactly like yours. It turned out to be the radiator. I would guess that at least 50% of the core was blocked! Due to the aluminum head on the U20 I have always used distilled water.

My 1600 ran hot too. I had the rad recored which helped a lot. Don't get one of those hi-efficiency rad cores as they have too many fins and block airflow. Also make sure it's a 3 row core. I would f
