So...the hints from a few of you to remove the clutch slave cylinder worked. I bought a stubby 15/16 wrench and that helped immensely. Removed the undercoating around the nut with paint thinner and i

Replacing the line - assuming the new one is the correct length and has the correct fitting on both ends - is less difficult than replacing the m/c, slave and flex, I would have thought. PaulH.
