What are the definitive manuals pertaining to the restoration of MGBs? I understand there is one manual (I know not the name) in the second edition and that one needs the first edition to do the job

I think the poster was referring to the Lindsay Porter series. I believe Moss, maybe Classic Motor Books and others carry it, I got one for Christmas so I don't know from where
