I'm not sure how the B and Midget starters differ, but in my experience with the Midget, the whining sound is the starter turning, but not fast enough to engage the flywheel. This is due to either gr

A whining sound could be the starter motor turning without the teeth engaging. This means a possible dead or hung up Bendex. pop the bonnet, get by the engine & have someone else try to start it. If
