I just replace the speedo cable on my Spitfire (with overdrive). Put about 150 miles on the car and cable broke. I tried to route it the same way the previous cable went. The old cable was replaced

Just a thought, you say that you have a MG right angle adapter? Is it possible that the MG adapter is not getting the correct bite in the transmission? It does for a little bit, but doesn't maintain

It's a good idea to lubricate any odo cable you buy. Use a graphite cable lube such as Kable-Ease. Careful it's messy and will stain. Use a blob of synthetic grease (NEVER regular grease) on each end

The only angle drive that is required for a '79 with O/D is from the O/D unit to the cable. Other than that it is just one long cable. Patrick Bowen ~~~
