Looking for a little advise. I had a chance to take my 65 Sunbeam Tiger on an extended drive yesterday and while idling at a stop light experienced a stumbling idle and then the engine stalled. It wa

Recommend you check ignition distributor. Point gap may have closed due to follower wear.

Running electronic ignition eliminates point wear, so check for air leaks on carburetor, manifold and fittings. A basic tune may help with plugs, cap and wire.

Stumble and stalling is usually a fuel delivery problem, but yours is only happening at idle? Stumble at speed is a fuel problem. A sharp shut down is ignition. Your problem seems to be in the idle

If everything has been running well and this problem suddenly appeared out of nowhere, I'd put my money on it being a vacuum leak. Check all the intake vacuum lines and gaskets. _____________________

Hi Bill, I had a similar problem. If the engine sits for more than a couple of weeks the fuel in the carborater can evaporate and leave behind varnish. It is just luck where the varnish decide to for

It's a simple function of gravity that allows the contamination to undam. This was common in 70 Ford's with gas tank contamination. At a certain point any restriction caused by filters, bends, etc.,

This is the classic symptom of the Holley side-pivot floats. You get fuel starvation in the right hand turns. Get yourself some center pivot floats and I bet you can power on through the right hande

I got my center pivot floats off of a junk double-pumper. If you go this route, be sure the rear accelerator pump is blocked, or it will leak gas. Otherwise, it's a pretty simple swap and you get re

Since this only occurs in a left hand turn, I'd guess that it is because you have a side-pivot float bowl, and the float is swung up, keeping the needle valve closed, so you starve for gas. This is

Read your message a little fast. I have had Edelbrock carburetors, and they are smooth, nearly leak free, and very good. Except, they only come with side hung float bowls. So, all previous comments a
