- Jesse -- You probably want to mention what model Triumph you have. I doubt you need to remove the manifold (if it is stock)... this is certainly not the case with a TR3 or 4. Geo Hahn 59 TR3A 64 TR4

- Actually, on my 59 TR3A with the early stock starter motor and stock exhaust, I have to take the downpipe (aka headpipe) loose from the exhaust manifold to get the starter out. I pull the pipe down

- down a == I remove the air cleaners, the "U" shaped gas line between the 2 carbsm and the choke cable, pull the starter back from the bell housing and backend straight up and out right between both

- It's been awhile since I've tried it, might be that I could use Fred's method if I also removed the choke link between the carbs. ISTR there was some problem tho, and I decided my method was quicker

- Me too. Well, I didn't say it was easy -- just possible. It is a close fit and only works with the dingus positioned just so. Many years ago I went thru a spell were I got a lot of practice with this
