My Haynes manual tells me that the distributor needs to come out before my starter can be removed. The Factory Workshop just says something like "some components may need to be removed before removal

With a solenoid????? Doubt it, but that's a standard description for most starters, except Spridgets and Fords and other cars that don't have them integral. But, they aren't specialists, just a w--ho

Are we taking your 1500 here? I just did this on a 1500 and I had to remove everything on that side of the engine except the fuel pump. Even then it will barely slip through, but will make it throug

I was able to remove and replace the starter on my Midget (Mk1 w/ 1275) without removing anything. Original style oil filter and centrifugal-advance-only distributor if it makes a difference. I did h

Toby..I've replace the starter on a 65 and a 68...got 'em out from the top as I remember...but I was a skinney dude then and you did have to hold your mouth just right. Disconnect the wires...get em

Wait a minute I did my starter on my 1500 and removed nothing but starter in fact changed it twice due to Lucas. After bolts are removed you can pass starter thru I believe it's called the A frame op
