So I got my tie-rods off Saturday night, using a 3lb hammer, and the trick of putting a jack stand under the tie rod to let the weight of the car help. I then got the new steering rack boots install

Take the two bolts of the rack that hold the cover to the rack. This is right where the steering shaft enters the rack. Then remove the cover, shims, damper, spring and guide. I'm not sure of the cap

What does one use to lubricate the rack and pinion on an 1970 MGB GT? The MGB manual shows the "steering" takes 1/3 pint but no mention anywhere else that I can find. Where does this 1/3 pint go? Reg
