as far as the rings go first off you need to remove the head and carefully clean a piston top to see if there are any markings for oversize stamped on the top of the piston. the other choice is this!

Is he speaking of solid copper, or the Fel-Pro style of copper-asbestos-steel? That style works great for street or race use.

The only head gaskets I have ever blown were the copper/asbestos type. Never a problem with the paper type. This is pretty much a waste of money. 19 years on a rebuilt engine and still no head proble

I don't know how you could have overheated the engine with it idling and adding more coolant unless maybe your themostat stuck closed. Did you inspect the oil for signs of coolant and vice versa? Ar
