I have an interesting problem with the tach in my tiger. Some days it will read just fine other times it will read very high (like 5500 at 65mph) So far I cant seem to figure a pattern for when this

'Way back when I had a Pinto (don't laugh, OK?) I installed a tach in it and after a while the car developed a problem similar to what Patrick described. It turned out to be a set of bad plug wires -
