I would advise against applying urethane or varnish over oiled teak. While the initial appearance may look nice, the finish will eventually loose adhesion and lift from the underlying teak. Also, tea

Isn't plywood w/veneer a better (and stronger) basis for a dashboard? Seems to me that all the inherent flexing & temperature changes would lead to cracks in a solid plank of wood.
