They use nitrogen because it is dry, no moisture and is easier on the tires. Pure nitrogen is lighter than air so it helps a little, it sure did on the truck tires. Mike

The reason NASCAR uses nitrogen is the moisture in air will gain more pressure as it heats up than dry. Period! No weight issues at all. Radial tires are much more sensitive to pressure changes than

I admidit I don't know about the weights of various gasses. but actual truck tires (11R-22.5's to be exact) weighed several pounds less when filled with nitrogen, and when I say several, I mean there
