O/D's were never standard in the US. I believe the were in Europe somewhere in that time frame. Paul.

Looks to me like a 4-synchro (rectangular side cover, rearward facing OD switch) OD unit from a chrome bumper car (OD label seems to be black), so I wouldn't call it 'early'. PaulH. -- Original Messa
