Hope the chrome wire wheel knock-offs were Dayton, or hub-caps and not Dunlop, or that they were Alpines. Rootes never offered that option with the Tiger because the torque would tear the wires out o

Most 289 Cobras came with wire wheels. Mine has them, BTW. Not as light or strong or as wide as alloys, but they work just fine. And don't forget all those V12 Jags with wires. Roland

Had a wire wheel Jag. '54 XK-120M with chrome 52mm splines (not 42 like MG or Sunbeam). As soon as Jag put out the "D" models, with more torque and horsepower, they went to pin-drive disk wheels, as

I certainly don't claim wire wheels are in any way superior to modern or even 35 year old alloys wheels, but they did work in many applications. I'd much prefer pin-drive Halibrands, but I'm not wil
