I use them. The times that I have left them off or that they have failed I would wind up with a lot of crud on top of the intake valves. I can't imagine that with that much stuff on them that they wo

I don't use them either, as my machine shop adviced against it for my Spitfire with standard iron valve guides - apparantly they need more lubrication than the bronze ones, and the seals do limit the

We've been fitting valve stem seals on the intake valves, but not on the exhaust. The exhaust runs at higher temps and so needs better lubrication. -- Michael Engard 1935 Morris 10/4 1970 Rover 3500S
