A 'gulp' valve is an emission control device that limits intake manifold vacuum during overrun (engine braking or deceleration) by allowing filtered air directly into the intake manifold under high v

A gulp valve is a one way valve located in the air hose from the air pump to the air injectors in the exhaust manifold. ( For those cars that have the federal emissions controls on them-like mine) Ha

Moss lists it as a PCV valve as does Victoria British. I think the term "gulp valve" is British, not American slang. Moss lists it for TR250 application for $17.95 while Victoria British lists it at

If they are listing a PCV valve as a "gulp" valve, or vice-versa, that's incorrect. A "gulp" valve is indeed American slang for a diverter valve, sometimes called, in earlier days, an anti-backfire v

Sorry, a PCV valve is different than a gulp valve. PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation and a PCV valve is used to control the flow of fumes from the crankcase into the intake manifold. It has to b

You are correct, what is pictured (FVP2003/11) is not a gulp valve despite Smith's own packaging. In fact, if you go to their catalog they call that part number a "crankcase emission valve". A _gulp

Oh, and further... the same guy is auctioning a GULP valve. See item (Item #277253883) That is a gulp valve.... not an EGR valve, and it doesn't fit a Triumph. But it's a bargain! Peter C

Sorry, EGR is yet another type of valve, that allows exhaust gasses back into the intake, to reduce peak combustion temperature and NOx (nitrogen oxides) emission. Not the same as either a gulp valve
