I've got a spare transmission (manual) which was recently rebuilt that I will be hopefully .storing for a long time. The Manual calls for the use of non detergent 30 Weight motor oil I'm worried that

I was told by a transmission rebuilder that the best thing to do is to overfill it. Fill it with as much lube as you can. Then put a big tag on it so you or the next guy knows to deal with it later.

I have a spare TR3 block and a few trannies. I spin each of them for a few minutes every few years. I have not looked inside for at least 12 years, but they all continue to spin freely. Jack I've got

This would work (take care oil won't leak out the breather), as would sealing it in a bag with a container of anhydrous silica ("do not eat") large enough to absorb all moisture for your storage term
