- Does anyone know of a service that will rebuild a car battery in it's original case? I've got a Lucas Pacesetter that holds a full charge but when I put a carbon pile load on it, drops very quickly.

- I've never heard of such a service--and suspect if there is one it would be very expensive--but you might try one of the 'smart' chargers that claim they can desulphate a 'dead' battery. I've got one

- In the olden days, Ford's parts catalog listed individual plates for their batteries. I guess it was normal for the local mechanic to unseal and remove the top of the battery case and replace failed
