I've not tried it, but what happens if you use a left-handed drill bit, maybe around 1/4" diameter, and start drilling into the screw head (with the drill running in reverse of course)? Seems like it

That's what I did, except I used a chain saw - more fun. I'd consider using a metal blade in a reciprocating saw to remove the screws and remaining scrap wood, unless there's some reason to not leave
