I believe the small vacuum fitting on the underside of the oval air cleaner goes to the inlet (cold) side of the hot air choke for the carburetor. It provides â??cleanâ?? air that gets pulled through

WHAT? The original question was about the small fitting on the AIR CLEANER.  No vacuum there. The fitting was for the original heat riser choke as someone else mentioned. If you did away with that,
