Greg,

A few things to check before you right of the rack: Inner ball joint
and outer tie rod on the rack, are they in good shape? Pop the hood
and turn the wheel from left to right (about 45 degrees in each
direction) while watching the steering rack. Does the rack move left
to right quite a bit? All TR6 racks float a bit due to the ridiculous
way the factory mounts them to the frame, purchase some aluminum
steering rack mounts from TRF or Goodparts, this will take care of that
in short order. Take a look at the front suspension and make sure the
guy who did the work for you put everything back together right and
tightened everything. If it turns out that you do need a new rack, TRF
rebuilds them quite nicely. I put a TRF rebuilt unit in a few years
back, works great. Moss advertised a brand new rack unit using a
faster ratio for quicker steering. They might also make brand new
units in stock steering ratio.
