Not sure that there would be any magnetic interference in that location any
more/less that anywhere else. I know it sounds like "is there gas in the
car" but is the quality of the speakers suggesting a better sound? Are the
wires on the correct terminals? By being either side of the trans tunnel,
the two speakers are fighting for the same space technically, and I would
have thought that using the doors would provide a better enclosed space for
them to reverberate in.
