Hi Terry:

Interesting note. I've had the same pegging for a while. Actually had to tap
the gauge to get it free. On Wednesday the battery died. Won't hold any
charge at all. Now I will be able to see it coming and not get stranded
(again).

Vink,

I've had the same symptoms when a battery starts to get weak. I'd have the
battery load tested to ensure it is strong.

What is happening is the battery is weak and when you load it up with the
high amperage required to turn the starter over the battery is discharged
much more quickly than normal (due to diminished capacity of the battery)
and the alternator is having to charge like crazy to recharge the now nearly
dead battery.

If the battery checks ok you may have a voltage regulator on the blitz or
the starter may have problems and is drawing too much amperage during
cranking (worn bearings, bad brushes, etc.).

As always, check all electrical connections first.

Terry
