Jay---I share the basic methods that you use, only by holding the hood
up with a combination of rubber coated hold-down straps, fastened to a
mechanical hoist. This keeps the hood at the proper tilt, and frees up
both hands while getting the bolts started. I use a dry marker pen
around the edges of the hood brackets before unbolting them, to aid in
the realignment. None of these methods came about thru any native
wisdom. I also went thru the frustration of trying to muscle these hoods
into place. I will credit my wife and her displeasure in trying to hold
up her end in all of this. She's the one who suggested the 'sling'
method. The weaker sex, indeed.
