Al,

I know it is generally considered correct to knock old English car
transmissions and you have done your share, and no real harm has come from
that.  However, I can assure you the transmission in my TR6 is not pathetic,
it shifts very well with all of the gear's synchros allowing for very quick
and positive shifts.  This car has about 85,000 miles on it and I don't
believe the transmission has ever been out of it.  Actually, 2200 rpm at 60
mph sounds a bit over-geared to me, do you have to downshift a lot when
going uphill?
