Hi Phil,
I'm sorry, I wasn't clear... this depot is a bulk station downtown
that sells petroleum products retail in bulk. There is a road tax on the Av
gas I buy. I discovered them after getting tired of driving out to the
airport. The airport made me put it in a can once, and from then on, I
guess because they knew I wasn't a Fed trying to justify my existence, they
let me pull my Spit/6 out onto the tarmac right up to the pump. (Guess they
didn't see the oil leaks) One of the benefits of living in the boonies.
The Av gas I now use is of undetermined octane as it comes from the
refinery in differing octanes and put in their tank as an overflow or
something like that. It averages in the mid 90's. A friend told me: "
Your car smells like the drags at Super Chevy in Denver". For the extra $2
per tank, I feel it is worth the money.
A "built" TR6 motor in an early Spitfire running on Av gas is very
exciting.
Steve
