Mike C.----Either one can do the job of taking some of the load from the
original style tapered fork pin. The split pin could fit tighter, since
you should have to squeeze it to get it into the hole you bored. 
You can also use an Allen head bolt with a  shank long enough to fit
snugly thru all of the parts. This keeps the weaker, threaded portion
out of the bore. The right combination of bolt length and possibly some
washers will get this to fit nicely with a nyloc nut. The idea here is a
tight fit.
