Chuck,

Can a diode be used instead?

On GM Delcotron alternator swaps sometimes the alternator feeds back keeping
the engine running after the key is shut off. A one amp Radio Shack diode
works great and also stops the feedback from slowly draining the battery.
Not sure of the proper orientation of the diode but there are only two
choices. . .
