Wheel studs - just tap them out?

Hi all:

For some unknown reason, long ago a DPO put the
shorter versioned wheel studs on the right rear corner
of my TR6.  I've lived with them there for years
without incident but I now want to change them I
switch over to some new Minilites.  

The Bentley manual says that to remove them all it
takes is to "tap" them out.  True?
