       My experience is that larger dwell angles are usually the result of
excessive rubbing block wear on the points arm where it hits the cam lobe.
Therefore, contrary to what Paul posted, the point gap get smaller. This means
that you need to increase the gap rather then reduce it, because dwell angle
is the duration in time that the points are closed. You may want to change the
points if the rubbing block is worn, check the cam for scoring and use the
appropriate cam lube.
