It's been widely discussed; the merits or not of a lighter flywheel.

What I have not heard is where we are reducing from........

I decided to weigh-in the contenders.

Fidanza flywheel, Laycock & Luk clutch, pressure plate a assorted
fasteners....24 lbs.

  Corresponding factory original components........40 lbs.

I have read by some here claiming a small percentage of overall mass
reduction being inconsequential.

Maybe it's just me, but reducing any component from 40 lbs at 12 inches in
diameter with the mass relatively concentated where a "flywheel" is intended to
be loaded for maximum efficiency it just seems academic to me. And this gives
no consideration to the fact that we are on the crankshaft side of gearing. If
there is no adverse effect, then it's very simply a good thing in my thinking.

I never gave it any thought that I was starting at 40 lbs. Silly me.

I've got er bolted up if anyone wants a look, not much to see actually. It's
on my link or will be shortly.
