I've been speaking to Mike Brinker, the Digest Coordinator about the
idea someone posted to photograph the two rather rare and expensive TR6s for
sale. He asked that I put the idea to the list and see if someone would
volunteer to help. I live in Australia, so I am at a bit of a disadvantage
as to doing the job but am willing to coordinate the task.
The idea is to have someone who lives close by the locale where the two
cars are for sale and who has a digital camera, to take maybe a hundred or
so shots of every bit of the cars. The photographic record could then be
placed on say, the 6 Pack web site, for future reference by anyone restoring
or checking the production configuration of the TR6. As we now do not have
any access to such a priceless resource of pix of the cars as they came off
the line 30 years ago, this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I
concede that the catalog would only be truly representative of one
production series (in view of the multiplicity of changes that were
introduced during the production run) but it would be a record that, apart
from drawings in the manuals etc, that is not available for all to access.
The cars are for sale at The Aircooled Guys 5405 Etta Burke Ct Suite
#104 RALEIGH NC 27606. The contact number is 919 854 2277.
The white one has the Commission No CF56586UO, which puts the
production date about May 1976. The red car is CF52107, which would
have come off the line a few months earlier. The latter has aircon fitted
which would have been done by the US dealer after arrival from the UK.
If anyone lives near Raleigh NC and is willing to help, could they email
me at the address above and I will fill them in.
Cheers,

Dave Rogers
