I also had a rebuilt TR6 tranny w/ J-type OD and had the
same symptoms. Upon opening the tranny, we found a thrust
washer had disintegrated causing a failure of the top hat
bearing and the 3rd gear synchros. Has nothing to do with
the O/D. Someday I'll pull that tranny out of the shed &
get it fixed...
