Tim:
Your tank is correct for the earlier cars. There should also be
a vapor trap behind the trim panel in the trunk, on the right side of
the car.
The drawings I looked at did not show the extra pipe, however.
But drawings don't always tell you everything and this would definitely
explain my confusion.
I was struggling with the vendor's insistence that this was for
a late model TR6, but if it is in fact a tank for an early TR6 then that
is a preferred explanation. Too difficult otherwise to explain why a US
vendor would be carrying a PI tank.

Not to add to the confusion, but on my 1971 US-spec car, I have the
following:
1. Two fittings on the top of the tank (on opposite corners) for vapor
recovery. These are an integral part of the tank, they are NOT screw-in
type fittings.
2. One fitting that screws into the filler neck, again for vapor
recovery
3. One threaded bung on the bottom driver-side of the car, into which
the fuel line threads
4. One threaded bung on the bottom passenger-side of the car, into which
a plug threads, this is to be used for draining the tank
Again, this is on my '71. I am not sure if it is original to the car,
but I think it probably is, because it basically rusted out completely
about 8 years ago and I had to get it rebuilt. So perhaps the tanks
changed over time, and the tank that James got is from an early-model
car?
