Vance,

Coming from the speedometer, the cable goes through a grommet in the
firewall then drops down through another grommet in the body on the left
side of the battery. When you came forward of the firewall with your
cable, did you follow this path, or did you bypass the grommet in the
body and just go up and directly through the firewall to the
speedometer?

Last night, with the angle drive pointed down, I ran mine under the OD
and then followed the original path of the four speed set up - basically
because the cable was already there and I wanted to see how it looked.
It fits okay and doesn't hang down, but the additional exposure to road
debris makes me wonder if the cable is going to take a beating.

As always, thanks for the input.

Mike

        Mike:

The angle drive points forward. Connect the cable and route in
the right side of the tranny until you get to the bell housing, then
cross over the top of the tranny where the bell housing meets the
transmission. Then forward past the firewall, and then up, back and over
to the speedo hole in the firewall. Voila!

In finishing up the conversion of my 69 to a J-Type overdrive, I'm ready
to
connect the speedometer cable. What is the path of the speedometer
cable for
a J-Type overdrive (I have an angle drive)?
