No flaming from me. My wife doesn't drive a stick either.
The borg-warner type 35 was used in a lot of other vehicles, including:
The early Capri (1974 era) fours and V-6's.
The Rover P5B--behind the 3.5 liter aluminum Rover (nee GM) V-8.
Triumph Stags used it for their U.S. spec cars.
The Rover 2000 used it also.
'67 MGB's had them as options, but I don't know if they were imported
here with them or just kept for the home market. It was also used on the
MGC--behind that big straight 6.
It was used in the 1975 Volvo 240 (and probably earlier models as well).
A volvo website claims as of 2001 that genuine volvo parts are available
for this transmission(?!) and that complete remanufactured units are
still available.
The 1970 Saab 99 used a type 35 (I thot those things were FWD?)
It was used in the 1965 Ford Falcon behind the straight 6.
And in the Reliant Scimitar GTE's (though when's the last time you saw
one over here--pretty rare).
Datsun 510 wagons had them.
Ford Cortinas had them.
Versatile little beggar, eh? And evidently quite strong.
