Fender Question

Are all fenders for Series I-V Alpines basically the same?  I understand the 
tail light, door corners and front turn signal holes changed but are the wheel 
well curves and lip areas the same?  A fellow owner wants to remove some ugly 
flares (the metal was beaten out, not bolted on) from a Series V Alpine and 
return the car to stock wheel openings.   Can I cut out the wheel wells from a 
Series III and will they be the same as the ones on the Series V?  Thank you.
