Hi Ken,
If you have a Sunbeam with a softop, the "bows" are the metal pieces that are
attached to the middle part of the car behind the doors. They fold up to keep
the fabric off your head and protect you from the weather and fold down to
give you that open sky feeling (unless you are wearing a long scarf al la some
old film stars) they are basically shapped like old long bows, from the Robin
Hood period) :-)
