I had a similar problem on my series 2. A short behind the dash damaged some
of my wiring. I had just parked the car in the garage and was fortunate to
see the smoke coming from the dash before closing the garage door. If I had
closed the door and not seen the smoke the car might possibly have burned. I
have since fitted quick release battery terminals and always disconnect one
from the battery when I am not using the car.

> Well, I managed to fry the wiring harness on my Series IV automatic this
weekend. Looks like the ignition switch shorted out and as a result melted a
good portion of the harness. So, I'll be replacing the harness and ignition
switch sometime soon.

Sort of a tech session, or something like that. Do you guys think that might
be something that people would find interesting?
